Shimon Littman, Psy.D

(Pronouns: he/him/his)

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and the Founder of The Center for Collaborative Behavioral Health (CCBH). I work primarily with adults who have ongoing challenges with intense emotions and the unhelpful behaviors that come from them. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) from Long Island University – Post Campus. During that time, I trained with Dr. Jill Rathus, co-developer of the adolescent adaptation of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I have effectively applied DBT in various inpatient and outpatient settings, and pursued foundational training from Behavioral Tech (Dr. Linehan’s company for the expert training and dissemination of DBT), as well as, attended other Behavioral Tech training to improve my skills whenever possible.

During my pre-doctoral internship at Long Island Jewish Zucker Hillside Hospital (Northwell Health), I worked in an outpatient clinic specializing in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). I really loved the work and learned directly under the supervision of Dr. Anthony Pinto, a nationally recognized expert in OCD and a world-leading researcher and clinician in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). This experience really drove my passion for working with OCD and I specifically pursued further training during my postdoctoral work at The Reeds Center, a leading OCD training and treatment center in Manhattan.

Aside from DBT and working with OCD, I also treat a broad range of challenges such as various forms of anxiety, depression, adult ADHD, skin picking and hair pulling, and perfectionism. Regardless of what I’m helping you with, my goal is to become your partner in this process and help you stop feeling overwhelmed and move forward. I consider being a therapist an honor. I love helping people become empowered, work to reduce their suffering, and build the life they deserve. The most rewarding part of being a therapist is getting the chance to join you in that process. I’m committed to helping you make progress towards your goals and I use proven, evidence-based treatments – cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and DBT – to help you get there.

Dr. Shimon Littman, Psy.D

Using a warm, genuine, and active approach, I work to provide you with the space to be understood and heard so that you can be yourself, be honest about what needs to change, and feel comfortable doing things that are difficult in order to make the changes you want. I recognize that there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy and our work together will be focused on setting and reaching goals that are unique to your needs and concerns. As a therapist, I firmly believe that there is no shame in asking for help and that treatment is most successful when we are both fully committed to your healing.
